A recently released medical study contains some startling news about how an item you rely on everyday could be carrying diseases.
According to the study, millions of microorganism on the average human hand are easily transferred to cell phones.
While many phones go weeks or months without a proper cleaning, health experts suggest that they be wiped down up to 4 times every single day.
The movement of these pathogens to our phones makes the items up to 10 times dirtier than the average toilet, an issue that is compounded when people take their phones into the bathroom.
Experts warn that the bacteria could cause a phone user to become sick and with illnesses including respiratory disorders.
“There are aerosoles being created out of the toilet that can go into the atmosphere and they can fall on your phone,” said UMC infection preventionist Miguel Rivera. “Even if you don’t do that and you put your cell phone right next to the sink as you are washing your hands, the drainage is very dirty so that splashing that is happening there is actually splashing back onto your phone.”
And it isn’t just the hands that can affect a phone.
For individuals suffering from strep throat, placing the mouth near the phone can also make the device into a carrier that can make people sick all over again,
