Kai Locksley’s arrest affidavit was released

June 8th, 2019 UTEP’s starting quarterback Kai Locksley was arrested on four charges.

Driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm and making terroristic threats.

According to the affidavit, “Defendant shouted to unidentified individuals, Defendant had a hand gun and would empty it on the individuals. Defendant was also using abusive, profane and vulgar language during the incident.”

Authorities pulled over Locksley in the Cincinnati Entertainment District early Saturday morning.

The affidavit states, “Defendant seemed impaired and had unstable balance, slurred speech and bloodshot eyes….. also could smell an unknown alcoholic beverage emitting from the breath and person of Defendant.”

Locksley informed the deputy he had a firearm. It was retrieved from the by the deputy and found to be fully loaded.

When the Deputy prepped the vehicle to be towed he discovered a prescription bottle containing a green leafy substance which was later determined to be marijuana. The amount weighed out to under half an ounce.

In the vehicle with Locksley was UTEP Football defensive lineman Tiano Tialavea. A senior from Seattle Washington.

Tialavea was arrested as well for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

UTEP Head Football Coach Dana Dimel stated that Kai Locksley is suspended from the team indefinitly until more details emerge.

Nothing has been said regarding Tiano Tialavea’s status with the team.
