Las Cruces High School athletes quarantined after 5 students test positive for Covid
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- A group of athletes at Las Cruces High School are having to quarantine after five students tested positive for Covid-19, school officials confirmed Wednesday.
A Las Cruces Public Schools spokesperson did not indicate exactly how many students were impacted by the quarantine or which sport(s) programs were involved.
LCPS indicated the exposure stemmed from a single event, which was not a prom.
Two of the confirmed virus cases involving Las Cruces High School students in recent days are noted on the Covid dashboard on the LCPS website, which reports past and current instances of cases within the district. The site does not yet reflect the other three cases.
District officials say when they receive notification that a student has tested positive, they notify any other students who might have been exposed and close contacts are told to quarantine.
