EL PASO, Texas -- A car plunged off a rain-slickened Transmountain Road late Tuesday night and into a ravine, injuring two people.

The incident happened about 10:20 p.m. along westbound Transmountain near mile-marker 20.

Firefighters had to extricate the driver, who was trapped inside the crashed car. The passenger was also briefly stuck in the vehicle.

Authorities indicated the pair were fortunate, as their injuries appeared to be minor.

While it was not immediately known if the accident was weather related, it had been raining throughout much of the evening across the Borderland.

Two other crashes also occurred along a very wet Interstate 10 near Geronimo late Tuesday night. There was no immediate word of injuries from those incidents.
