WASHINGTON (AP) — It’s been a tempestuous week in Washington, with insults and accusations flying, deadlines pressing and some major things to get done. Altogether, it’s been an illustration of governing by crisis. Democrats have been arguing with Republicans and at times themselves. What was at stake? President Joe Biden’s agenda, the need to avoid a government shutdown and the need to raise the debt limit to avoid a default. Biden has his hands full trying to deliver on his promise to restore stability and normalcy after the Donald Trump years. He’s being pushed by his left flank and restrained by Democratic centrists while running into Republican obstruction.
