Trick or Treat? ABC-7’s Halloween candy safety tips

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — It’s officially the spookiest day of the year!

In order to keep your Halloween free of tricks and full of treats its important to inspect your children’s candy.

Check candy for unusual colors or textures. Check for tears in candy wrappers including small pinholes. Throw away any candy that appears to have been tampered with.

Avoid homemade treats if they are from strangers.

Besides candy that appears to be tampered with, parents also need to look out for candy that could pose a chocking hazard.

Also, experts say that parents should never let children enter a stranger's house to receive candy while trick-or-treating.
