El Paso reaches 130 virus deaths; nearly 200 new cases reported
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Department of Public Health announced two new coronavirus deaths and an increase of 183 new cases Tuesday morning.
The death toll now stands at 130. The victims were identified as a man in his 40s and a man in his 80s. Both had underlying health conditions.
There have now been 5,928 confirmed cases, of those 1,998 are considered active -- a new all-time high. The number of recoveries now stands at 3,800.
Hospitalizations jumped from 149 to 160, which is a new peak for El Paso County. There are 69 patients in the ICU, and 31 people are on ventilators.
The Texas Health and Human Services Department reported that there were a combined 42 ICU beds available in El Paso, Hudspeth and Culberson Counties.
