Sunday Funday Moment: Power of love rings true as husband keeps promise from hospital bed
EL PASO, Texas -- Today's Sunday Funday moment proves what the power of love can do.
Dan Herrera is a loving husband and father to two very active boys who love to play sports.
You could count on Dan to be pacing up and down the field at all of his boys football and baseball games cheering them on.
Dan was a Registered Nurse for Del Sol Medical Center before making the move to Sierra Providence East. Back in October on his way to work, Dan was involved in a car accident that caused his car to roll over several times and left him in the ICU for days.
Dan suffered a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Dan is still able to move his arms, but movement on his hands is limited.
Dan and his wife Tippi Herrera, an elementary school teacher, had to leave their jobs to travel to Dallas in order for Dan to complete his physical therapy.
While there, Dan made a promise to his wife that he would finish his college degree to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.
His promise was kept when he completed his final exam from his hospital bed, and this past week he received his degree to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.
In a post shared on Facebook, his wife Tippi wrote, "You have inspired others and proved that anything is attainable as long as you push forward."
Dan is an inspiration but so is his wife Tippi because for better for worse, in sickness and in health, she's been right by her husband through the whole journey. The power of love.
A co-worker of Dan created a GoFundMe account to help him and his family with their finances.
