Sunday Funday Moment: Canutillo grad surprises his family after 7-month deployment
EL PASO, Texas-- For many military families, dealing with deployments can be difficult. That was the case for Canutillo high school graduate Johnny Roberts and his family until he made a surprise return home.
Johnny Roberts has been stationed in Tampa, Florida and was deployed to Jordan for the last 7 months.
Marrying his high school sweetheart, this was the first deployment Johnny and his wife Cassandra have endured in his 8 years in the Air Force.
While gone, his wife was the primary caretaker of their three kids- ages 8,4, and 2 all while working full time and attending college.
Johnny wanted to surprise his family separately and he began his surprise with his wife as she was having lunch with family and friends. He then showed up to his daughter Avery's school and walked into her classroom unexpectedly. Once Avery realized her dad was home, she ran up to him yelling, "DAD!"
Johnyy's next stop was his older son Ryan's school. Dressed up as "Tigger," Johnny walked into his son's classroom holding signs that lead up to a final question asking, "When is your dad coming home, Ryan?"
Ryan responded, "I don't know," and it was then when his dad revealed that he was hiding behind the Tigger costume.
Finally, Johnny stopped by his baby boys daycare during nap time. Johnny's son Tanner woke up with a confused face but once he realized it was Dad who was holding him, he laid his head on his dad's shoulder and went back to sleep knowing his daddy was finally back home.
Welcome home, Johnny!
