Gio St. Amant Leaving UTEP BBall Team
EL PASO, TX. – One of the UTEP Miners “go to guys” is leaving theprogram. UTEP senior-to-be Gio St. Amant’s mom is ill in California, so he’s saying ‘goodbye’ to the Sun City.
In a statement to the press and the community, Gio said “It is with deep regret that due to my mother’s illness,I am leaving UTPE. I am grateful to my coaches, teammates, teachers, and especially the fans for supporting me during my stay in El Paso. Everyone has shown me tremendous respect and love.”
Gio played in 97 games for the Miners, starting 52 of them. This past season he averaged just over 7 points and nearly two rebounds per game.Statistically, Gio’sbest season was his first, as he set a UTEP record for points, scoring average, 20-point games, and free throw percentage for a Freshman.
