El Pasoans Look To Help Hurricane Victims
EL PASO, TX. – While the American Red Cross launches the largest mobilization of resources in its history for a single natural disaster, El Pasoans look for ways to help.
The Red Cross tells ABC-7 that interested residents can learn more about being a volunteer by attending an orientation this Thursday at 6, being held at Fuddrucker’s off Gateway East.
Mark Matthys, Spokesman for the Red Cross’ El Paso chapter tells ABC-7 that volunteers need be prepared to commit to 2 days worth of training lessons. The 2-day training will take place this Friday and Saturday.
Additionally, as a volunteer, people may be asked to stay in the disaster area for up to 3-weeks. However, costs of travel will be paid for by the Red Cross. Residents who cant make the trip can help by simply having dinner.
Monday and Tuesday nights, Johnny Carino’s will donate a portion of its sales to the Red Cross. Diners need to let their server know they are interested in donating. Additionally, Thursday night – Fuddrucker’s will also donate part of their sales.
