Extradition Process On Hold For Alleged Chaparral Kidnapper

JUAREZ, CH. – Theextraditionprocess for aman accused of abducting a 23-year-old Chaparral woman and taking her across the border into Juarez is currently on hold.

Christopher Wade, 23, will remain incustody in Mexicountil he can pay for damage to three Juarez police cruisers, authorities told ABC-7’s news partner, Channel 44.

Wade’s alleged victim, his ex-girlfriend Crystal Rivera, 23, was at home with her stepmother and sisters Friday night when he reportedly broke into their home. The Dona Ana County Sheriff’sDepartment says Wade was upset because Rivera was trying to get a restraining order against him.

Rivera told authorities Wade punched her repeatedly and threw her into her car and drove her into Juarez.

Juarez police officers caught up to the couple early Saturday morning after the suspect allegedly rammed into three police cruisers.

New Mexico officials are now working to extradite Wade back into the United States. Once returned, Wadewill facecharges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated residential burglary, battery on a house hold member, and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, sheriff’s officials said.
