Rain, Flooding Continue To Menace Borderland Residents

EL PASO, Tx- El Paso County is under a flash flood warning this morning after more rain overnight raised the flood threat.

That’s after overnight rain raised the flood threat again after heavy rain yesterday flooded some central El Paso roadways — forcing law officers to block several traffic exit ramps.

The western part of El Paso County was hit hard two weeks ago when it was inundated with nearly 15 inches of rain in about a week. President Bush yesterday declared El Paso a federal disaster area from the flooding earlier this month.

The designation opened the door for federal aid to an area recently ravaged by flooding and rock slides.

Most of West Texas west of the Pecos River also is under a flash flood watch today as more rain is expected.
