Driving Hazards Abound After Overnight Rains

EL PASO, TX. — Steady showersovernight Saturday left slick roads and hazardous driving conditionsfor drivers later in the morning. In addition to agood numberof fenderbenders, ABC 7 investigated reports of street flooding in the Upper Valley and the on El Paso’s EastSide.

Thunderstorms seemed to align withInterstate 10fromDonaAnaCounty and the slow weather pattern appeared to movesouth into El Paso County.

A number of traffic collisions were recordedwhile the storm system was active; some may be weather-related. One likely storm-causedevent involved several cars near West Paisano andExecutive Centeraround 5 a.m. At least four cars colided with each other as they attempted to swerve a miss the original wreck.

Police andfire crews were called out tothe 11,600 block of Rojas Dr. around 7 a.m., after it had been discovered that a section of the westbound lanes of the street – some 150 feet long – had been washed away by the overnight rains.
