Dynamite Stick Found In Checked Luggage
HOUSTON (AP) – The FBI says half-a stick of dynamite was found today in a college student’s checked luggage in Houston.
The student was traveling on a Continental Airlines flight from Argentina.
The dynamite was found during a security check after bomb-sniffing dogs reacted to the luggage.
The man told authorities that he works in mining and often handles explosives.
An FBI spokeswoman says they are checking out the story and the student does not appear to be connected to terrorism.
The plane had landed at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport on a flight from Buenos Aires.
Authorities also want to know why the student got off the flight in Houston, which later continued on to New Jersey.
He’s from Connecticut and attends Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.
