Officials Continue Investigation Into Discovery Of Woman’s Dead Body
EL PASO, Tx. -Police from both sides of the Texas-New Mexico border continue to investigate the discovery ofa woman’s beaten, naked body in far Northeast El Paso.
Police tell ABC-7 the woman’sbody was found on War Road in New Mexico, just across thestate line, near Martin Luther King Boulevard, just after 5:30 Monday morning.
The owner of the land calledthe EPPD shortly after the discovery of the body.Because of the location of the body, the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office was then brought into the case.
Police describe the victim as a Hispanic woman, 25 to 30 years old.
Officersadd thata suspect is on the loose and officials say there may be a second murder victim in El Paso.
Officials say it was a call from an el paso man living along the 5000 block ofColter Court that lead them to the crime scene.
Spokeswoman Robyn Gojkovich says the man who made the call said he didn’t witness the murder, he just overhead a man he says lived with him say he killed a woman.
The man who called police is being questioned bythe EPPDand the Sheriff’s Office says he’s also considered a suspect. He also told police there was possibly another body somewhere in northeast el paso and officers are pursuing that lead.
While officials aren’t releasing much information, they dosay they believe the murder or murders took place in New Mexico. The suspect may have gone back to an apartment in Northeast El Paso, showered, and left.
Officials add thatthey are questioning one witness who they say overheard the suspect say he killed the victim.
Ms. Gojkovich tells ABC-7, “The female, she appears to have severe blunt trauma to the head…like I said, we haven’t been close enough to her. We’re still processing the scene.”
While Dona Ana County Sheriff’sinvestigators searched for evidence in the Southern New Mexico desert, El Paso Police looked for the suspect and possibly another body along Coulter Street in Northeast El Paso.
Investigators even called in a helicopter to help search the Castner Range earlyMonday afternoon.
Officials have not identified the victim, nor havethey established a motive in this case.
