Silver City Plane Crash Kills Texas Pilot

SILVER CITY, N.M. (AP) – State police say a Texas pilot was killed when his plane crashed east of Silver City.

State police Lieutenant Juan Martinez identified the pilot as 65-year-old John Obe Burrell of Winnie, Texas. The plane was destroyed in the crash yesterday.

That word from a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration’s Southwest Region, Roland Herwig of Oklahoma City. Burrell was the only person on board.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
