Dona Ana County Moves To Put Spaceport Tax On Ballot

LAS CRUCES, NM. – Dona Ana County Commissioners take another step in putting funding for a proposed spaceport to a vote.

Druing Tuesday’s weekly meeting, the panel voted to approve 106 polling places in the county for the election in April. Our New Mexico Mobile Newsroom spotted one audience member who offered $500 of his own money to help with election.

The issue isn’t without its detractors, though. Some of the other citizens in attendance voiced their disapproval, saying they don’t want to be taxed to pay for the spaceport.

Spaceport America is planned for Upham, some 50 miles north of Las Cruces.
