Deadly Eastside Vehicle Accident, Early Saturday

EL PASO, TX. – Investigators with the Special Traffic Investigations unit (STI) have identified the man who died in an early Saturday morning traffic collision as 51 yr-old Francisco Baca of El Paso.

STI investigators originally believed the decedent was a resident of California. However, through their ongoing investigation, investigators learned he had recently moved to El Paso.

Officers from the Mission Valley Regional Command Center responded to a vehicle collision at 9100 Gateway East at 3:53 a.m. Saturday morning. Officers arrived and called for Special Traffic Investigations (S.T.I.) to assist.

STI investigators determined that Baca, driving a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup was east bound on Gateway East when the operator lost control of the vehicle at the on-ramp to I-10 East. The operator and vehicle drove onto the median separating the onramp from Gateway East.
