Council Considers Lee Trevino Expansion Project
EL PASO, TX. – A plan to extend Lee Trevino to cut drive times for many lower valley residents is getting a mixed reaction on El Paso City Council.
“I don’t think that’s the whole fix, just part of the solution for congestion in that area, so that people can get through in a timely manner, and a safe manner,” says city representative Suzy Byrd.
City representatives got a legal reportMonday at city hall. Some of the plans involve the destruction of hundreds of homes. Other routes involve far less home demolition, but would still require a few properties to be cleared, something some members of council still do not agree with.
“I am opposed to this project, it’s a destructive project, it could take up to 270 homes.” says Eddie Holguin, City Representative, in opposition. The city is still looking for an extension plan which works the best.
