UNM Suspends 3 Of 6 Fraternities Within A Week
ALBUQUERQUE,N.M.(AP) – Three of the University of New Mexico’s six fraternities are on emergency suspension.
The latest suspension cameTuesday after an investigation into an early morning fight at Kappa Sigma led UNM police to believe alcohol was involved. Alcohol isn’t allowed in any fraternity, sorority or student housing. Phi Delta Theta was suspended Friday after the parents of a 16-year-old girl told university officials they found her passed out drunk at the fraternity house.
Three days earlier, Sigma Alpha Epsilon was suspended after UNM police arrested a member on charges he had sex with several underage girls. UNM officials say a hearing will take place to determine whether the suspensions should be lifted or stay in place.
