Report: 86 Dallas ISD Workers Disciplined For Credit Card Misuse
DALLAS, TX.(AP) – More than 80 Dallas school district employees have received some form of discipline after an investigation of misuse of district-issued credit cards.
The Dallas Morning News reports the discipline ranged from probation to termination. An internal district report obtained by the newspaper says that of the 86 people disciplined, 15 received letters of termination. More than half the employees received multiple punishments, such as a demotion and removal of any budgetary authority.
The district reprimanded 55 people, put 48 on probation, demoted 10 and shortened the contracts of nine employees. The district spent 1 million dollars on the investigation. It examined the credit card spending of about 200 employees on questionable purchases over more than two years.
As many as 1,400 employees had a district credit card at some point before the program was disbanded. The investigation cleared 107 employees of wrongdoing. Two secretaries have been convicted in federal court of misusing their cards.
