Two More Cases Of WNV Confirmed In EP

EL PASO, TX. – The El Paso City County Health District confirmed two more cases of West Nile Virus within El Paso.

One of those infected is a 59 yr-old Hispanic woman from the Lower Valley area whose symptoms began on August 6. She was admitted to a local area hospital on August 9 and remains hospitalized.

The second case confirmed is that of a 60 yr-old woman from South Central El Paso who was hospitalized on August 10 after symptoms began on the 8th. These two new cases brings the total to 5 human WNV cases.

In El Paso’s Upper Valley, mosquitoes caught within a light trap on August 14 tested positive for WNV. Vector Control has intensified fogging in the area.
