UTEP To Charge For Disabled Parking On Campus

EL PASO, TX – Disabled students at the University of Texas at El Paso will now have to pay for their disabled parking space permit.

Previously, the permit to park in disabled parking spaces was free to disabled students. UTEPwas one of three schools in the Univeristy of Texas systemthat did not charge to park in disabled parking spaces.

Univeristy officialstell ABC-7the changes are needed in order spread the cost to all students and faculty. The change was made after advising from a parking consultant hired by the univerisity to help remedy parking problems at the university, they said.

The new systemwill ensure a disabled parking spot will be available whena student needs it, officials added.

As the deadline for payment at the start of the fall semester looms, many students are expressing their concerns.
