Police Visit Area Hotspots To Educate Community

EL PASO, TX. – Just how much is too much when it comes to drinking and driving? El Paso Police say many people don’t know the answer to that question and they’re trying to change that.

The El Paso Police Department’s ‘Safe Communities’ along with Sun City Cab and Desert Eagle Distributing all joined together Sunday evening at the Three Legged Monkey bar to conduct operation “Know Your Limits”.

Officers were at the bar for two hours, offering volunteers an opportunity to take a portable breath test, to show what their blood alcohol level was after they’d had some drinks. Officials say they look at this as a chance to educate people in their continued efforts to reduce the loss of life and injuries caused by drunk drivers.

Sun City Cab offered free rides home to people who were over the legal limit and did not have a designated driver. As for how many drinks it does take for you to be over the legal limit of .08? That depends on a number of different factors like age and weight so the best advice police have is it’s better to be safe then sorry. If you’re drinking, have a designated driver or take a cab.
