Some GOP Members Believe Craig Should Resign
EL PASO, TX. – New developments in the case of the Idaho senator involved in a sex scandal. GOP members are calling for Senator Craig’s resignation.
Many Republicans now say they want Senator Larry Craig to step down. Craig was arrested in June in a Minneapolis airport for alleged lewd behavior in a men’s bathroom. The senator pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, a plea he now says was a mistake, saying he thought it would just make it go away.
“The Idaho Statesman” newspaper is also now calling forCraig’s resignation saying he can no longer effectively serve, manyGOP members of Congress agree. “He pled guilty, he had the opportunity to plead innocent, soI think he should resign,” said Republican Presidential candidate, Senator John McCain (R.-AZ) Craig has made no indications that he will give up his senate seat, but will announce in September whether he will seek re-election.
