Fire On El Paso’s Westside
EL PASO, TX. – A morning fire on El Paso’s Westside was contained just before 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Fire trucks and emergency crews responded to the Tuscany Apartments on Mesa Hills Drivebefore 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Heavy smoke and flameswere visible and fire crews had some difficulty with no water coming from at least one hydrant.
Lt. Mario Hernandez of the El Paso Fire Marshall’s Office confirmed for ABC-7 that 16 units were involved, all of which are non-occupied. Damage was estimated near $1,000,000 dollars.
Parts of the apartment complexwere still under construction, though some other buildings are already occupied by residents. An attic was fully engulfed in flames and the ceiling structure did come down. Crews set up a water tower to minimize the blaze’s effects.
