Police Make Second Arrest In Fatal Hit-And-Run
EL PASO, TX – Police have made a second arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run early Sunday morning.
Police arrested 20-year-old David Gonzalez for allegedly hitting a man riding a motorcycle and leaving the scene of the accident. Gonzalez has been charged with Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death and he is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
The accident happened early Sunday morning near the 10200 block of Montana in the Far East. According topolice officials, Gonzalez was the driver of a Honda Accord thathit 43-year-old Edmundo Santo’s motorcycle from behind.
As a result of the hit, Santos was thrown off his bike and was run over by another vehicle as he was laying on the road.
The driver of the car that ran over Santos, 25-year-old William Vernacchio, had already been caught and charged with Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death.
Police officials tell ABC-7 there were other passengers insidethe Honda Accord. The investigation is still ongoing and those individuals might also be charged, they said.
