EL PASO, TX. – White Spur Park inElPaso’sUpper Valley is popular with nearby residents, but they say they aren’t the only ones who enjoy spending time there.
One ABC-7 viewer writes, “A lot has been done to make the park nice and at dusk my wife and others at the park witnessed mice and rats running throughout. This is a serious concern and we would like to see the city fix this issue for our children.”
ABC-7investigated the problem and found no four-legged visitors early Thursday morning, but residents say it’s another story in the evening.ABC-7 wentright to the sourceto talkwith El Paso’s Parks and Recreation Division about the issue. Spokesman Wayne Thornton said it was the first time he had heard any complaint about mice or rats at the park.
Thorntonsent a supervisor out to the park, and he found nothing indicating a mouse infestation, but did say mice maycome out when it’s cooler outside. Thornton told ABC-7 that workers are scheduled to rake out the wood chipped area on the playground Thursdayand added, “it’s because of those wood chips. It doesn’t help the situation. They did a beautiful job with what they did, but long term, we’re going to have to figure out what to do about it.”
