Bus Driver And Child Swept Into Drain By Rushing Water

UPDATE: 12:54 P.M. The rescue of a little girl swept into a storm drain is happening at Ejercito Nacional and Valentin Fuentes.On the 6-lane street, the ground gave in near the sidewalk where the girl fell in. Border Patrol Search and Trauma Team is there.

JUAREZ, MX.- A little girl heading to a school bus in Juarez wasswept in to a drain by rushing water and a bus driver who rushed tosave her, disappeared as well. Water rushingthrough the intersectionof Paseo de la VictoriaandEjercitoNacional swept the two under into a drainage ditch.

The unidentified driver’s body hasbeen found. JuarezPolice Departmentand Customs & Border Protection Border Patrol Dive teams were working in Mexicoto find the young girl. CBP Spokesman Doug Mosier confirms a Search and Trauma Rescue team is assisting Mexican authorities in the rescue. They left at around 11:15 a.m.

The six-member team is specialized in high and low angle rescues and first aid. High and low angle rescue means they are trained to use systems of ropes and rapelling to be able to get in cavernous areas, climb mountains and also have emergency medical training.
