Police Arrest Three In String Of Armed Robberies

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Las Cruces Police have arrested three men suspected in a series of armed robberies over the past several weeks.

Robert Michael Marquez, 31, and Edward Coy Miller-Soto, 24, both of the 1100 block of La Fonda, and John Pablo Maynor, 28, of the 1000 block of Elm St., were arrested Thursday morning after investigators determined they were involved in three armed robberies at two area motels.

At around 2:20 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a call of an attempted armed robbery at the Hampton Inn at 755 Avenida De Mesilla. One of the officers responding to the scene noticed a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. The officer stopped the vehicle on Valley Dr. and discovered that the two occupants, Marquez and Maynor, were responsible for the attempted armed robbery.

Las Cruces Police detectives, who were investigating the armed robbery at the Hampton Inn and two at the Super 8 Motel at 245 La Posada Lane, discovered that Marquez, Maynor and Miller-Soto collectively or individually were involved in those crimes. Quality video surveillance equipment at both hotels was instrumental in the investigations.

Marquez is charged with one count of armed robbery, two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, one count of conspiracy to commit attempted armed robbery and one count of being a fugitive from justice for a felony warrant out of Kingman, Ariz. Maynor is charged with one count of armed robbery, one count of attempted armed robbery, two counts of conspiracy and one count of violating probation. Miller-Soto is charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of conspiracy.

Detectives have leads on at least one additional suspect who may have assisted the three in the armed robberies. The investigation is continuing and further arrests and charges are pending.

Marquez is being held on a $105,000 bond, Maynor is being held on a $70,000 bond and Miller-Soto’s bond was set at $35,000
