UPDATE: Las Cruces Woman Accused Of Attempted Sexual Contact

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Thirty-year-old Michelle Tufts is charged with two counts of attempt to commmit a felony, criminal sexual penetration of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The disheartening news Thursday is that the eight-year-old boy Tufts allegedly molested, is her relative. According to the criminal documents ABC-7obtained from authorities, Tufts allegedly tried to get the boy to touch her genitals at an apartment complex in Las Cruces; when the boy denied her request, Tufts allegedly continued to pursue him without her clothes on.

The statement of facts says Tufts also watched pornography with the eight-year-old. The criminal complaint says Tufts admitted to being intoxicated and in a very lonely state while she was living in the Las Cruces apartment.

Police records show that Tufts said the only thing she remembers is trying to touch the boy. Police say it’s sometimes hard for children to know when they are being abused or if they should tell someone.
