Motorcyclist Dies In Upper Valley Crash
EL PASO, TX — El Paso police have releasednew details concerning a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist. It happened just before 5 p.m. Sunday on Artcraft Roadand Westside Drive in the Upper Valley.
The victim is now identified as Ricardo Ogaz, 25, of the 1500 block of Coach Road, in Westway. Officers report Ogaz was traveling at a high rate of speed when he crashed his motorcycle into the side of a car,a 2006 ChevroletCobalt.The impact was so great the back end of the car was completely demolished. The driver of the car, Nora Florez, 58, of Santa Teresa, was not seriously hurt.
Ogaz died at the scene. He was wearing his helmet at the time, officers said.
El Paso police spokesman Ofc. Chris Mears said Sunday’sthe crashshould provide a warning forreckless motorcyclists and drivers. “People need to slow down and drive within the conditions of the road, within the speed limit, and most definitely within their riding ability,” he said.
Mears said the area is a popular drag for motorbike riders, as they are attracted to racing on open road that’s available there.
