Woman Assaulted In Car Theft

EL PASO, TX — El Paso police officers were called on Tuesday to investigate a car theft on the West Side. It’s the second incident in 24 hours in which the thief allegedly assaulted the owner of the car while trying to steal the vehicle.

The latest incident happened around 2 p.m. at a strip mall across from Sunland Park Mall. The victim, a woman in her 50s, told police shewas about to pull away in her 2004 Cadillac Escalade when ayoung Hispanic man entered the vehicleand physically removed her from her seat.

The victimtold policethe man threw her to the ground and then he sped offin the vehicle.

Emergency crews took the woman to a local hospital for various injuries, including apossible fracture to oneof her legs.

Officers were still searching for the man as of Tuesday evening.
