Check Scams Prompt New Website To Combat Fraud
EL PASO, TX. – A popular check scam has caught the eye of government officials, now they’ve set up a new website aimed to help!
In many of the scams, the individual is asked to cash a check or money order and wire the money – or some even say you’ve won the lottery.
That’s why the postal inspection service wants you to look at fakechecks.org. The website has videos of the different ways people can get you to cash a fake check.
Inspectors say it’s importantrecipients of these types of communicationsknow what they are getting into because if the check cashedis in fact fake,they areresponsible for the entire amount of the check.
