Las Cruces Teen Arrested In Drive-By Shooting That Injures One
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Las Cruces Police have arrested 18-year-old Joshua Romero for his involvement in a drive-by shooting that occurred early Saturday morning.
Romero was arrested early Thursday morning and was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, one count of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, one count of Shooting at an Occupied Dwelling or building, and one count of Shooting at or from a Motor Vehicle.
Police investigators believe Romero was the man who, at around 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, fired several shots from a Dodge Neon toward two people standing outside a home on the 400 block of north Virginia Street.
An 18-year-old woman was injured by flying shrapnel as a result of the shooting. Investigators believe Romero’s girlfriend was driving the Dodge Neon at the time of the shooting.
