Pennsylvania Teen Stockpiles Small Arsenal, Planned Attack
PHILADELPHIA, PA. – With the sudden surge of school violence and threats of violence across the country – authorities in Pennsylvania made an almost unbelievable discovery in the home of a 14-year-old.
Police say the boy had guns, grenades, and videos of the Columbine attack in Colorado.Police say they found upwards of 30air rifle or bb style guns, along withknives, swords, a 9 mm. assault rifle purchased by the boy’s motherandfour handmade grenadesin the bedroomof teenwho lived in the suburbs of philadelphia.
“One of them actually had a fuse in it. Had the fuse been lit, it would have exploded and sent bbs everywhere like shrapnel,” said the District Attorney. Police say the boy was contemplating an assault onPlymouth WhitemarshHigh School and had tried to recruit another boy who turned him in.
ABC Newshas learned that the boyoperateda website for something called the “Imperial Cobra Army,” asite filled with misspellings on which he refers to himself as the “worlds youngest mercenerie[sic].”
Police say the boy had been picked on in junior high because he was overweight. His parents took him out of school to home school him. “My sense is that in his lifetime he felt that he had been bullied and he was not accepted in society, he was an outcast,”theDistrict Attorney added.
Hesays he’s now trying to decide whether to charge the boy as an adult and also whether to charge his parents for not only buying the boy an assault rifle, but also for allowing the boy to amass a stockpile so large, right under their noses.
