Police Catch Car Thieves Red Handed At Cohen Stadium Concert
EL PASO, TX. – Two men are under arrest for trying to steal a car during Thursday’seXa Radio concert at Cohen Stadium.
El Paso Police have identified29-year-old Gerardo Varela of El Paso and 21-year-old Leandro Miguel MotaofCd. Juarez. Policesay a plain clothes officer spotted the two men as they drove around in the parking lot near Cohen Staduim in a Kia Sportage.
At one point, the men alledgedly stopped behind a 2003 Dodge Ram and sayMota used tools to force open a door on the truck. When the officer approached, Mota reportedly ran back to his car and took off with Varela.
Varela is charged with Attempted Theft of a Motor Vehicle. Mota faces the same charge as well as Unlawful use of a Criminal Instrument. Their bonds are set at $40,000 for Varela and $52,000 for Mota.
