Intruder Thrown Out Of House, Arrested After Home Burglaries
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – A man who broke into at least two houses Sunday evening was thrown out by one of the homeowners and later arrested by Las Cruces Police.
48-year-old Kenneth L. Todd of Las Cruces was arrested at around 11:45 p.m. Sunday.
Shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, Las Cruces Police were called to a home on the 1100 block of Monte Vista where they learned that the homeowner found an intruder coming through a back window of his home.
The homeowner quickly grabbed the intruder and threw him out of the house. The homeowner gave police a good description of the suspect, later identified as Todd.
Detectives learned that Todd was also responsible for two other calls Sunday evening. Detectives discovered that Todd broke into a home on Solano Drive where he took a knife from the kitchen and various items from a woman’s purse.
Todd also attempted to break into a home on University Ave. but an alert resident called 911. Las Cruces Police responded and located Todd nearby.
Todd is charged with one count of Breaking and Entering, one count of Aggravated Residential Burglary, one count of Attempted Burglary of a Dwelling and one count of Possession of Stolen Property. He is being held in the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
