UPDATE: Investigation Into Las Cruces Shooting Continues

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Therehave beenno arrests madeas of Mondaymorning in the shootingABC-7 broke Sundayat 5.

A 17-year-old was shot in the arm during a street fight at Poplar and Wade just before 2 p.m.on Sunday. Witnessestold ABC-7 thattwo teens were arguing with another group of people.

That’s when things got physical. The groupfought in the street for a while until someone pulled out a gun and shot one of the teens in his left arm. The victim is expected to be okay. As of Monday, police had questioned two people in the case.

Investigators say it may be gang related, and even happened in front of some little kids playing nearby! “They out herein the front yard playing. All of a sudden, they’re telling me,’Dad, Dad, they’re shooting out there!’ One child fromdown the street was so petrified because here right at the corner,” one neighbor said.

Las Cruces Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to contact them immediately at 505/526-0795.
