Arizona Man Attempts Suicide, Police Suspect Murdered Wife

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -Policeare waitingto arrest anArizona mansuspected ofkilling his wife on anRV trip and driving all the way to Las Cruces before contacting authorities.

63-year-old Davib Taub was set to meet with New Mexico State Police last Friday. He was to be questioned regarding his wife, Shelly’s, murder. But Taub never showed up forthatinterview.

Workers ata Las Cruces hotel found Taub unconsciousin his room Friday afternoon. Police say Taub tried to commit suicide by injecting methodone.

Taub was taken to Memorial Hospital where he is listedin stable condition. Due to the alleged suicide attempt, police were not able to formally charge him with Murdernor Tampering with Evidence as they had planned.

Police say Taub allegedly killed his wife in the couple’s RV somewhere in between Tucson and Las Cruces on the way to Dallas. Taub told police he found his wife beaten inside theRV after he went inside a truck stop in Lordsburg.

“Nothing added up in the story. Nothing made sense. At this point, we are confident we have probable cause to believe Mr. Taubcommitted this crime. He is recovering at this point. He is still under medical and psychiatric observation. So we are waiting to resolve that before we take any further legal action with regards to Mr. Taub.” said Rich Libicer of the New Mexico State Police.
