Baby Jessica Raising Son, Set To Collect Fund Worth $1 Million
MIDLAND, TX. (AP) – Tuesday is the 20th anniversary since toddler Jessica McClure was rescued from a backyard well in Midland.
She’s now a 21-year-old wife and mother. Chip McClure says his daughter is a wonderful mother, whose dream has always been to be a stay-at-home mom.
She has a one-year-old son, Simon. But Jessica’s quiet existence in Midland could change in three and a-half years. That’s when all the monetary tributes sent to “Baby Jessica” while the world waited for her safe rescue — mature into a payment of one million dollars or more.
The trust fund is waiting for Jessica to turn 25. A woman who answered the phone at a number listed for Jessica McClure’s husband, Daniel Morales, identified herself as Jessica, but told an Associated Press reporter it was a wrong number.
Richardo Morales, Simon’s uncle, says Jessica plans to put the money into a fund for her child.
