Ft. Bliss Mourns 29th Soldier Killed In Iraq

FORT BLISS, Tx. – The Department of Defense announces the death of yet another Fort Bliss-based soldier in Iraq.

According to DoD officials, 21-year-old Specialist Jason B. Koutroubas died Sunday in Tal Afar from injuries suffered in a non-combat related incident.

Specialist Koutroubas was from Dunnellon (Fl.) andwas assigned to Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Bliss.

Koutroubas, a Common Ground Station Analyst (MOS 35H), entered the Army from Jacksonville, Fla., June 21, 2005. His previous assignments include Fort Jackson, S.C., and Fort Huachuca, Ariz.

His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal. Koutroubas is survived by his wife and child. A memorial ceremony in honor of this fallen soldier will be coordinated and announced at a later date.

Soldiers from the 4-1 BCT deployed to Southwest Asia in late October, early November 2006, to provide stability and security operations.

This brings the total number of casualties sustained by the 4-1 BCT to 29.
