Police Investigating Far East El Paso Fatal Accident
EL PASO, TX. – Authorities with the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the area’s latest fatal crash.
It happened around 6 a.m. Tuesday on an unpaved road near the oldJobe concrete quarry.
Authorities report Pedro Mercado, 22,was driving eastbound on One OK Easement Road, a private dirt road with his cousin, Omar Cortez, also 22.
Mercado struck a raised cement curb causing the vehicle to roll. Theimpact ejected Cortez, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Cortez was killed instantly.
Emergency crews took Mercado to Thomason Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
