Former Lea County Commissioner Announces For Congress
HOBBS, N.M. (AP) – A former Lea County Commission chairman says he’s seeking the Democratic nomination for the 2nd Congressional District seat.
Harry Teague says he’s a fiscally conservative Democrat who would serve the district well.
The seat is being vacated by U.S. Representative Steve Pearce who is running for the Senate seat left open by the retirement of Pete Domenici.
If elected to Congress, Teague says he would focus on the war in Iraq, health care and immigration.
Other Democrats seeking the nomination for the 2nd District seat include Al Kissling, who lost to Pearce in 2006, and Dona Ana County Commissioner Bill McCamley.
