Pedestrian Struck & Killed By SUV In East El Paso
EL PASO, TX. – A pedestrian is killed as she crosses the street in East El Paso Thursday morning.
Investigators say 48-year-old Davena Horton was attempting to cross Edgemere in the middle of the block when she was struck by a Nissan Xterra SUV. 26-year-old Claudia Bretado was driving the SUV and police said she did not see Ms. Horton as she stepped out into the roadway.
Ms. Horton was killed instantly, though investigators do not believe speed was a factor. Because of the eastbound direction Ms. Bretado was traveling, investigators said the sun rising may have contributed to Ms. Bretado being unable to see Ms. Horton.
