Perry Names Three Members Of UT Board Of Regents
AUSTIN,TX.(AP) – A billionaire oil executive, the founder of a real estate firm and the chairman of an engineering company have been named to the University of Texas System Board of Regents.
The appointments were announced today by Governor Rick Perry. Paul Foster of El Paso is president and chief executive of Western Refining. Foster formerly served on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and on the University of Texas at El Paso’s business advisory council.
Last month, Forbes magazine estimated Foster’s wealth at 1.9 billion dollars, making him the 261st richest person in the United States. The other two new regents are James Dannenbaum of Houston and Printice Gary of Dallas.
Both served on Perry’s Texas Tax Reform Commission. Dannenbaum leads Dannenbaum Engineering. He’s also chairman of the Texas Cancer Council, a state agency that promotes cancer prevention programs.
Gary is founder and managing partner of Carleton Residential Properties. Their terms will expire in 2013. The three replace regents Rita Clements, Cyndi Krier and Judith Craven.
