Texas Comptroller Helps Residents Find Forgotten Dollars

EL PASO, TX. – Thanks to the Texas Comptroller, area businesses and residents find funds they have forgotten.

It’s a nice feeling, but imagine finding a few thousand forgotten dollars. ABC-7 leta few El Pasoans in on just such asurprise. Every year the state of Texas dishes out hundreds of millions of dollars in unclaimed funds.

This weekend businesses and residentswill get their money.Friday, the Magic Pan Restaurant in El Paso’s Upper Valley was the first to get the good news they had $345that were unclaimed.

According to the state, this is all money that many individuals and companies have just forgotten; for example, a pay check that was never picked up or maybe even a utility deposit of some sort that was never re- imbursed.

The state says this year’s list has more than 152,000 people who have unclaimed money. One business owner in central el paso says his unclaimed $3,000 dollars is coming as a huge surprise.

“You’ve got to be joking me. I’m gonna have to check with mybookkeeper because I don’t remember anything like that. We generally claim everything that’s there. I’m gonna go ahead and support UTEP. I just bought some season tickets for the football,I’mjust gonnapick up another one for basketball,” said DannyVaswani ofVaswaniJewelry.
