2 Injured In Single-Vehicle Crash
EL PASO — Emergency crews took two people to a local hospital after the vehicle they were riding in crashed Saturday morning into a rock wall. It happened around 5:30 a.m. on the East Side, at a residence in the 11,800 block of Oak Crossing.
Officers investigating the scene said a man may have been driving drunk when he lost control of the vehicle. The entire front end of the car had completely crumpled up due to the impact.
First responders said the driver appeared at first to have suffered from serious injuries, but his prognosis has since been upgraded. A passenger in the vehicle was not seriously hurt.
Neighbors said they’ve witnessed similar crashes in the past. “What woke us up is that loud crash,” said Betzy Lagunas. “We figured right away it was a vehicle that had slammed into the wall again. It happens at least once a year, somebody ends up in an accident around here.”
As of Saturday evening, police had released no new details on the crash. An investigation will continue.
