Woman Suspected Of Murdering Her Husband
EL PASO – A police call on Sunday to inspect a reported suicide shifted to a murder investigation, and El Paso police have made one arrest.
Officers responded to the call around 5:30 a.m. to the Tigua Apartments, in the 6800 block of San Jose.
Investigators discovered the body of Leopoldo Mosqueda, 32, with multiple stab wounds. Upon closer inspection of the apartment, police said they found several pieces of evidence that suggested the man had actually been murdered.
Police arrested the victim’s wife, Leslie Alvarado, 24, at the scene. Officers placed her under arrest and she was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $50,000 bond.
Police did not disclose what evidence they found. “What they saw in the apartment raised their suspicions and they requested the Crimes Against Persons Unit,” said Ofc. Chris Mears, a police spokesman. “We do believe this is a murder.”
The couple had been engaged in a heated verbal argument which then took a violent turn, police said.
